Ingredients:
A Tres leches cake is a sponge cake soaked in three kinds of milk – evoporated milk ,sweetened condensed milk and whole milk . And also known as "Three milk cake" is a very light cake by weight but high in calories .We used to buy from safeway,Albertsons .. Here’s the recipe of how I prepared at home.Try doing Tres Leches at home and enjoy….
- Cake mix - Betty crocker or Pillsbury,preferably yellow cake.
- 3 Eggs.
- Oil & water as needed for the cake mix.
- Evaporated milk .(store bought canned milk)
- Sweetened Condensed milk. ( Store bought canned milk)
- Decorative items - (Betty crocker 's pink color cream with decorative tips)
- Whipped cream for icing the cake.
- 2 cups Whole milk .
Preparation:
- Take a large bowl , break & pour 3 eggs ,add the listed quantity of oil and water and beat it with egg beater for 5 mins.
- Then empty the cake mix in to the beated egg mixture and again beat it for 5 mins, without lumps.
- Mean while , preheat the oven to 350F and keep the baking tray ready by brushing it with some butter on all sides .
- Pour the cake mix and set the timer for 30 mins.
- Check the cake with a toothpick, When u insert a toothpick in the cake and its not sticky when u take it out ,then ur cake is ready, or leave it for 5 mins more & recheck.
- Once the cake is ready transfer it to a plate and leave it to cool.
Icing and Decorating:
- Once the cake is cooled , take a toothpick and put some holes in the cake , as many sothat the cake should evenly soaked in milk.
- Take 2 cups of whole milk (boiled and cooled) & pour over the cake.
- Open the tin of evaporated milk & pour over the cake.
- Then the condensed milk. Leave some time to absorb the milk & then pour the remaining milk again.
- Refridgrate the cake for 5 hours .
- Then apply the whipped cream of your choice(I used strawberry flavour) and then decorate as u wish .
